Eltz castle Germany driving tour

Day 1 Frankfurt - Heidelberg - Frankfurt (186 km)
Arrival in Frankfurt and pick up your rental car at the airport. Free time, overnight in Frankfurt at 3 or 4 star hotel.

Day 2 Frankfurt - Castle Eltz - Cologne (278 km)
After breakfast possibility of a guided 2-hour walking city tour in Frankfurt (optional). Continue your trip to the fairytale Castle Eltz, hidden in a dense forest in the vicinity of  the lazy Moselle river. The castle is still owned by the original family who purchased it in the 12th century.  After your visit you can continue to Cologne. Germany´s fourth-largest city famous for its Roman origins, its Gothic cathedral and unique Romanesque churches. Overnight in Cologne

Day 3 Cologne - Bremen (315 km)
In the morning you have an option to can enjoy a 1.5- hour walking city tour with your own guide or walk around on your own. Drive from Cologne to Bremen a Free Imperial Merchant City during the Middle Ages. See the Roland Statue symbolizing freedom rights. The picturesque red-brick city will take you from an unusual Art Nouveau street to a quaint district of winding medieval lanes and on to an alternative student quarter, all within minutes.

Day 4 Bremen - Hamburg (123 km)
After breakfast you drive to Hamburg. In the morning you have an option for a 2-hour walking city tour in Hamburg . This port city is well known for its elegant boulevards, the port, which is the second largest in Europe, and the famed bohemian neighborhood of St Pauli. Overnight in Hamburg.

Day 5 Hamburg - Lübeck - Gothmund - Travemünde - Lübeck (109 km)
This morning you drive to Lübeck. The former center of the powerful Hanseatic League is a pictures place famous for it brick gothic architecture with the old part of the town built on an island surroun ded by the river Trave. The charming Holstentor city gate is quite stunning and it is considered the symbol of the town. In the afternoon we recommend an excursion to the Baltic Sea. On the way you will find Gothmund, a charming village lined with fishermen´s cottages, unchanged throughout time. Travemünde is a popular coastal playground with 4,5 km of sandy beaches.

Day 6 Lübeck - Potsdam - Berlin (328 km)
On the way to Berlin we recommend a stop in Potsdam site of the famous 1945 conference among the victorious powers that decided the fate of Europe. If you wish, you can visit the Sanssouci Palace and park, former summer palace of the Kings of Prussia. Drive to the main station of Berlin to return your rental car.

Day 7 Berlin
In the morning you´ll enjoy a regular city tour with audio guides. Optional: private 3-hour walking city tour. In the afternoon transfer out to the airport or join the South Germany tour starting from Berlin.
