HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR GUIDED BIKE TOUR: Guided bike tour through the heart of Vienna Explore Austria’s capital and see its impressive sights by bike. From your ship’s mooring in Nussdorf you bicycle along the Danube canal to Vienna’s imposing central area and then ride the length of its famous Ringstraße – the magnificent boulevard that encloses the former imperial city of Vienna. You pass by the Stock Exchange, the Votivkirche and the Town Hall. Famous buildings such as the Burgtheater, the parliament building and the Hofburg (the former imperial palace) are just as important stages on your discovery route as the world famous St. Stephen’s cathedral. The schedule also includes the Hundertwasserhaus (a highly unusual modern block of flats) and calling in at a friendly Viennese Gastgarten for refreshments before you bike back to the ship. Guided bike tour in the green region of Wachau The lovely and varied scenery along the Danube Cycle Route is at its best when seen from the saddle, with the views of the Wachau district’s vineyards and lush meadows being particularly enjoyable on this excursion. Your local bike group leader takes you off downstream from the jetty in Emmersdorf. To one side of the Danube and away from traffic you pass through the Wachau World Heritage Site’s viniculture and flourishing apricot orchards. You also see well-known Wachau villages, such as Aggsbach and Willendorf, ending up in the picturesque little town of Spitz from which you cross the Danube by ferry and pedal back to Emmersdorf along its other bank. On the trip back you drop in to a typical Wachau inn for a refreshment break and can drink to the success of your bike excursion. The Danube Cycle Route is almost all flat or slightly downhill, making it perfect for all age groups.Transfer from Munich airport to Passau port (or v.v.)
