Our next stop is the glorious rococo church in Wies. Continue to Hohenschwangau near the King Ludwig castles where we will have a light lunch at Schlosshotel Lisl or Villa Jaegerhaus. Afterwards, you will visit Neuschwanstein Castle, the breathtaking fairytale castle of King Ludwig II. It was ranked No. 8 when millions of people decided on the ‘new seven world wonders’ and was model for Walt Disney’s Cinderella castle. In the late afternoon we return to our hotel in Munich.

DAY 4: TUESDAY

Nuremberg and the Franconian region are also famous for its special grilled sausages, so called ‘Nuernberger Rostbratwuerste’, which you have to try before you have time on your own to visit the ‘Christkindlesmarkt’ – probably the most famous Christmas market of the world. On the way back to Munich we will make a short stop in the city of Regensburg where at the castle of the aristocratic family of Thurn and Taxis (who invented the modern post delivery system) a unique, little Christmas market awaits you. Return to Munich in the evening. Overnight.

Should the weather be nice, you will enjoy a ride with a cog railway up to the Fortress Hohensalzburg overlooking the city. From this spot you will have a beautiful view over Salzburg and the surrounding mountain scenery. If the weather conditions should not allow this activity, we will visit the inside of the Mozarthaus. You will have enough time to spend on your own, just strolling around, visiting the lovely Christmas market and, of course, you should not miss the opportunity to taste the famous marzipan-chocolate delights made in Salzburg, Mozartkugeln.
